Event Description
Please join us for this year’s Alfred F. Mannella and Rose T. Lauria-Mannella Endowed Distinguished Speakers Series lecture on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 2:00 p.m. in Falvey Memorial Library’s Speakers’ Corner.  Richard Alba, Professor of Sociology, Graduate Center of the City University of New York, will be presenting a lecture titled “Why Italian-Americans Matter for Today’s Immigration.” Alba will talk about how the United States is once again in an era of mass immigration, and many Americans are worried about the impact of the new groups on American society. Alba will also discuss his ideas about how the Italian-American experience can give us a valuable resource for thinking about the  future of the United States and about how best to integrate the new waves of children from immigrant families.

This event is co-sponsored by Falvey Memorial Library and the Sociology and Criminal Justice Department and is made possible by the generous support of Villanova University alumnus Alfred S. Mannella. This lecture is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
